The Swamp Shack
At the far end of the Wishing Tree field, crooked against the trees on rickety stilt-legs, the Swamp Shack returns for a second year after being voted one of the highlights of Bestival 2011!
Created in collaboration between Trash City co-creative director Ruby Blues and Block9, the set-design pioneers behind the legendary NYC Downlow Gay bar, The Swamp Shack is ramshackle Louisiana bayou juke joint straight from the pages of a Sothern Gothic fairytale.
With interactive performance from the Invisible Circus and Roundhouse Performance Collective (directed by Sarah Fielding), bringing a host of Deliverance-style mutants, fading Southern Belles and a host of other unwholesome night-crawlers to life, the venue will also feature an incredible music line-up featuring some of the UK’s hottest emerging acts including Jess Mills, Clean Bandit, The Correspondents and Kill It Kid.
Kick back with a beer during the sunny afternoons at the Porch Stage acoustic jam sessions playing the very best blues, bluegrass, folk and country music or grab your partner for some barn-storming Ceiligh-dancing with Cut-A-Shine! When the sun goes down and the whiskey starts to flow you can get your dirty dancing shoes on as the Main Stage comes to life and things get a whole lot deeper and darker…
