Bike to Bestival - registration now open!
A Magical Mystery Tour with music & fun on the way
Fancy extending the magical Bestival experience for a couple more days this year? As you may know, we’ve teamed up with Buskers on Bikes to organise Bike to Bestival: and registration is now officially open!
The Bestival peloton (raising money for Cancer Research UK) will be pushing off on the morning of Tuesday 4 September from central London for a glorious – and musical – trip through the countryside, arriving on the Wight Isle, via Southampton, for a pre-Bestival knees-up on the evening of Wednesday 5th.
The registration fee of £40 covers transport for all your gear, camping on the way down, a return ticket on the ferry and some proper hearty grub. So what are you waiting for? SIGN UP HERE
So get them tyres pumped, consider buying some lycra (or not) and get involved in a truly fantastic adventure…
The ride will take place over two days with each day’s riding no more than 45 miles long. Training for the ride will be important – 45 miles in the saddle is no cinch, but with a bit of practice it’s an eminently achievable goal, even for the novice cyclist! Help, of course, will be on hand to guide you through the best way to prepare in the months leading up to the event… And anyway, what better way to get fit is there than to be out in the glorious English countryside?!
The lads behind the trip, Buskers on Bikes, are old hands at taking music on the road on two wheels – and, if you can play (guitar, ukulele, paper and comb, whatever…), they’d really like you to join in; the idea is to form a travelling band within the group to bring musical cheer along the route – and who knows, maybe even at the Bestival site itself…
They’ve put together a little message for you:
Day one (Tuesday) will take you halfway to the Isle of Wight and there will be a secure campsite for you to stay in, with the option of hotel or B&B rooms if preferred. Part of the ride is a very special music and fun element that will see musicians who’ve organised the ride play music with other cyclists joining in. You don’t have to be a musician to join in but if you like a jolly jaunt on a cycle, a few ales and a good time, this is definitely for you.
Day two (Wednesday) will see riders embark towards Southampton for a welcome rest on the ferry before cycling to the Waverley campsite for the night before Bestival party where the buskers will again perform and be a huge part of the pre-festival fun.
Then on Thursday, you can get to Bestival and get underway for a weekend full of more fun and maybe a massage and hot tub in the Soul Park as well as a refreshing cocktail or three.
The event will raise money for Cancer Research UK so the more we can get on the ride the more we can try to raise for this worthy cause.
