Bestival creative director Josie da Bank designed a new lifestyle camping range this summer – a first for a music festival.

Launched at Selfridges flagship London store as part of the Big British Bang in May, the Bestival by Josie da Bank limited edition outdoor range all made in the UK includes a unique beautifully illustrated handmade and tailored picnic bag, dinner and side plate, tumbler and high ball glass; all in this year’s theme, Wildlife.

Order from our online partner CultureLabel.com and you will have in time for Bestival 2012, with a specially discounted price to enable us to get it to you in time. Alternatively, you can buy on-site at the Bestival Merchandise Store, Farmers Market and Sunday Best Cardboard Record Shop also at these special Bestival prices.

    Picnic bag: £40
    Large Plate: £8
    Small plate: £4
    High ball: £4
    Tumbler: £3

Or bag, plus 2 large and small plates, 2 high-ball and tumbler glasses for £65

It’s a great range that’ll enhance your picnic or kitchen, it’s uniquely Bestival and we’re sure you’ll love it.

“I’ve always loved great design and felt this year’s Bestival illustrations of wildlife would work really well in a range of products that celebrated the great outdoors and also start something exciting and new for me creatively. I’ve been inspired by working with British talent at Bestival and Camp Bestival so I’m really proud that this picnic range has been Made in Britain. We’re also excited to collaborate with Selfridges – a perfect home for our first Bestival range.” Josie da Bank

The airwaves of the Isle of Wight and far beyond will come alive once more for 2012 as we’re pleased to announce Bestival Radio will be broadcasting again for the whole festival weekend.

Going out on 87.9FM to the local area and streaming live to the world by the magic of the internet, the radio is an essential part of the Bestival experience whether you are actually there or not. Tune in from your car on the way, let us sing you to sleep at night or stream us online from the comfort of your living room.

We’ve got an action packed schedule across four days showcasing a huge slice of the best the festival has to offer capturing all the madness and mayhem as it unfolds direct to your ears.

Bestival Radio is hosted by a handpicked selection of the cream of the crop from the festival line up of artists and performers, plus of course the legendary Bestival FM crew.

For 2012 we’re stepping in to the lab and entering a world of weird and wonderful science. Our crack team of scientific investigators will be surveying the wildlife of Bestival in the (un)natural habitat and drawing conclusions based on only the finest empirical evidence. We’ll be taking scientific readings and conducting experiments with things that crackle and fizz, concocting all manner of scientific mischief in our custom built laboratory.

For the first time we’ve also teamed up with Reprezent, London’s most vibrant and exciting youth-lead station. Most of the presenters are under twenty years old with their fingers on the pulse of the best new music and representing the strong opinions of young London. Martha, Nate and Zoe from the station will be broadcasting from Bestival across London, taking the campsite spirit to the inner city.

As always things kick off at 10am on Thursday 6th September keeping you company on the road to the festival with all the travel and information you need ensuring a smooth ride with music and entertainment of the highest standard. After that we’ll be with you every step of the way until the last people leave the site on Monday 10th. We’ll be running around the site all weekend, pestering as many musicians, DJs, personalities and performers into taking a turn at the controls and adding to your Bestival experience. More importantly than that, we will be herding all you wild beasts to our makeshift studio and stage and FORCING you to get involved in making the station the REAL sound of Bestival.

Artists already confirmed for Bestival Radio shows this year include: Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Little Dragon, Roots Manuva, Prince Fatty, Alexander Nut, Brodinski, Warm/Electric Minds, Disclosure, Raf Daddy (The 2 Bears), LA Salami, To Kill A King, DELS, Jinja Safari, Frank Tope, Max Cooper, Greg WIlson, Tythe, Sombrero Sound System & of course Bestival Radio’s very own Reverend Milo & Lucy Pink plus many more.

Of course we haven’t even begun to cover everything so keep your eyes and ears peeled for further announcements are the events unfold

Check out Bestival Radio’s Podcasts and re-live Bestival Radio 2011 via their Mixcloud page where you will find a treasure trove of podcasts and shows to listen to.

You can also subscribe to these for free via iTunes.

Always at the forefront of the festival experience and new technology, Bestival is once again pushing the boundaries as we announces that, for the first time, the festival will be live streamed to the Bestival YouTube channel for fans around the world to enjoy, in what is a UK festival exclusive.

The live stream is available on the festival’s official YouTube channel – youtube.com/bestivaltv – across all internet-connected devices and it will cover both the Main Stage and Big Top on September 7th, 8th and 9th.

With what is one of the strongest line-ups in Bestival’s nine year history, music fans will be able to watch performances in real time, from wherever you are, as long as you have an internet connection, including headline performances from Florence + the Machine and New Order, a UK festival exclusive appearance from The xx and live sets from Friendly Fires, Two Door Cinema Club, Emeli Sande, Bat for Lashes, Orbital, Miike Snow, Azealia Banks and many more.

The detailed daily program of the live stream is available on the Bestival YouTube channel. Follow #bestivallive on Twitter for all the latest details and to join the conversation.

Once Bestival comes to a close, individual songs from acts will be available on-demand for the next 90 days on the Bestival YouTube channel.

“I’ve been watching festivals such as Coachella and Tomorrowland on YouTube and loving the futuristic new angle on showing festivals in a different light via a medium that nearly everyone in the music and festival worlds is tuned into. We’re really pleased that Bestival is the first UK festival to go down this route”
    Rob da Bank

  • The Bestival 2012 Phone App

    • 30 August 2012
    • POSTED BY Duncan
    • Iphone_map

There’s less than a week to go until Bestival opens its gates for another 4 days of fun-filled frolics and you can now buy and download this year’s mobile app so you can have all the info you need at your fingertips. There are versions available for iPhone and Android both priced at £2.99.

iPhone handsets – buy the app from the App Store on your iPhone or from iTunes. Click here or type in ‘Bestival’ to find it.

Android handsets – you can buy the app for Android phones by visiting the android market on your handset here or search for ‘Bestival’.

The Bestival app has the following features:
    - Full set times for all the main stages (please see note below)
    - An interactive festival map
    - Money saving vouchers with discounts on food and drink stalls plus mobile charging, fancy dress offers and many more
    - Breaking news – before, during and after the event
    - A personal itinerary option to ensure you don’t miss anything you want to see over the weekend
    - Photos and videos
    - Key timings, travel and camping info
    - Twitter feeds from @bestival and @robdabank

VERY IMPORTANT: To ensure all timings and running orders are 100% up to date for the festival we will be releasing them on the App on Wednesday 5th September at 6pm. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you open the app at this point, ideally on a wifi network, to download all the timings data.

Unfortunately there is no mobile app available for Blackberry or Java handsets.

For any questions or technical problems please email Live Apps:

ps… We have seen some comments about the app and we would like to give a couple of pointers, if you are using the app with a decent wifi connection of phone signal, the first download will still take time, this is due to the fact that there is 20 stages of content on the app, a large map and other info, this is 4 times more content than we had on the app last year, so it obviously takes longer to download.

After the first download when you select schedule it may appear that the app has frozen, it hasn’t, it’s downloading the changes in the schedule. In the last 24 hours we have made large changes to the schedule so these changes are downloading behind the screen, the time that this takes will depend on your signal and the type of phone you have. once all the data is on the phone and we stop making changes to the schedule then the app will quicken up, however we will still be making changes up as we get nearer to the start of the festival.

Times – the times will not be on the app till Wednesday at 6.00pm as we will only have the full schedule then, you can find details of this on the Bestival website.

if you have any other comments or questions please email andy on u2us@live-apps.co.uk
